About the Book

"A JUNIOR ENGLISH GRAMMAR AND COMPOSITION" has been designed and planned to meet the requirements of students studying in Junior Classes of English Medium Schools in India. Every aspect of English Grammar and Composition has been fully dealt with. The book contains illustrative examples and specimens of all types of Functional Grammar and Correct Usage in addition to carefully graded and planned exercises for class work. Their main aim is to help and guide. Indian pupils to speak and write simple, correct English.

Every attempt has been made to make the study of such a dull and dry-as-dust subject as grammar, appealing and interesting to young students. Special emphasis has been laid on the teaching of functional grammar and sentence patterns rather than of formal grammar.

If grammar lessons are not an aid to composition, they are a sheer waste of time. Keeping this principle in view, lessons have been so devised as to correlate the teaching of grammar with the teaching of composition.

A new addition to the Junior English Grammar are the chapters on writing skills. They cover every aspect of writing skills. The lessons have been planned to take the students from the known to the unknown, from the simple to the difficult exercises.
