About the Book

The study of Information Technology at this level provides a foundational understanding of computer systems and networking. The practical component of this subject enables learners to gain hands-on experience and develop essential digital skills.

This book is designed to align strictly with the latest CBSE syllabus, where 50 marks are allocated to practical work. It serves as a comprehensive guide for students to prepare effectively for practical assignments, maintain their Practical File/Student Portfolio, and complete Project Work/Field Activities.

The book has been divided into two main sections:

Part C – Practical Work

This section is further split into two components:

C1: Practical Examination with Viva-Voce

• Includes assignments on Digital Documentation, Electronic Spreadsheet, and Database Management System using LibreOffice Suite 24.8.

  • Word Processor: LibreOffice Writer

  • Spreadsheet: LibreOffice Calc

  • Database Management: LibreOffice Base

• The Viva-Voce allows students to demonstrate:

  • Communication skills

  • Conceptual understanding

  • Reflections on their learning experience and project/field visit outcomes

C2: Written Test

• Based on both Employability Skills and Subject-Specific Skills

• Evaluates the student's theoretical knowledge and comprehension

• Marks Distribution:

  • 15 marks for Practical Examination

  • 10 marks for Written Test

  • 10 marks for Viva-Voce

Part D – Project Work / Field Visit

• Designed to assess practical application of skills over a defined timeline

• Encourages student innovation and project-based learning

• Teachers are expected to monitor and guide students throughout their projects

• Field visits should be organized to enhance real-world exposure and experience

Student Portfolio

• A curated compilation of documents that showcase a student’s work and competency

• May include:

  • Reports

  • Articles

  • Screenshots

  • Photographs

  • Other project-related materials

Marks Distribution:

• 10 marks for Practical File / Student Portfolio

• 5 marks for Viva-Voce
