About the Book

My Book of Performing Arts is a carefully curated series that is meant to be an enchanting journey, inviting learners to explore the captivating realm of expression, movement, and sound. It aims to introduce young learners to the essential elements of performing arts in a fun, age-appropriate, and interactive manner. Designed for students in Grades 3 to 8, this series aligns with the vision of Art Education as outlined in the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 as per NEP 2020.

In today's fast-paced and digitally-driven world, performing arts hold a greater relevance. They offer a much-needed balance to the cognitive and technological demands of modern life by providing students with a creative outlet to express emotions, foster mindfulness, and cultivate a sense of identity.
Through music, dance, and theatre, children learn to collaborate, think critically, and adapt to diverse scenarios-skills that are crucial in the 21st century. Performing arts also serve as a bridge to cultural heritage, enabling students to  appreciate their roots while embracing global perspectives.

Moreover, as education moves towards holistic development, as emphasized in the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, the performing arts play a pivotal role in developing emotional intelligence, social skills, and problem-solving abilities. These art forms prepare students not just for academic success but for a well-rounded, enriched life in an ever-evolving world.

This series progresses systematically, introducing foundational concepts in the early grades and advancing to more complex skills and techniques as students grow. Each grade-level book has been developed with a focus on nurturing creativity, building confidence, and enhancing critical thinking through engaging activities and hands-on experiences.

Music enables students to explore rhythm, melody, and harmony, cultivating their auditory and expressive abilities. Dance encourages physical expression, coordination, and  storytelling, while also introducing students to diverse cultural traditions. Drama promotes collaboration, communication, and imagination through role-playing, script creation, and performance. Together, these components foster a well-rounded artistic journey that contributes to a student's cognitive, emotional, and social development.

We earnestly hope that this book will serve as a threshold to the performing arts for many young students, igniting their passion and imagination and supporting their holistic development as envisioned by our first Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, through his Shantiniketan dream.
