About the Book

The study of Information Technology at this level offers students a basic understanding of computer systems and networking. The practical component of the subject enables learners to develop real-world skills and gain hands-on experience in digital tools and applications.

The core objective of this book is to provide learners with structured guidance for practical work, aligned with the latest CBSE syllabus. It will help students practice and prepare for Practical Examinations, maintain a Practical File/Portfolio, and complete Project Work/Field Activities effectively.

This book has been divided into two major sections:

Part C – Practical Work

This section is further subdivided into two components:

C1: Practical Examination with Viva-Voce

• Includes assignments based on:

  • Digital Documentation

  • Electronic Spreadsheet

  • Database Management System

• Software used is LibreOffice Suite 24.8:

  • Word Processor: LibreOffice Writer

  • Spreadsheet: LibreOffice Calc

  • Database: LibreOffice Base

The Viva-Voce is conducted to assess:

• Communication and explanation skills

• Subject knowledge and project understanding

• Reflections on field visits and hands-on experiences

C2: Written Test

• Covers both Employability Skills and Subject-Specific Skills

• Enables students to demonstrate their understanding of the entire syllabus

Marks Distribution for Part C:

• 20 Marks – Practical Examination

• 10 Marks – Viva-Voce

• Total: 30 Marks

Part D – Project Work / Field Visit

This section encourages:

• Applied learning through real-world projects

• Field visits for hands-on exposure

• Regular monitoring and feedback by teachers to guide student progress

Student Portfolio

• A compilation of documents that showcases the student’s project work and skills

• May include: reports, articles, screenshots, and photographs

Marks Distribution for Part D:

• 10 Marks – Project Work / Field Visit

• 10 Marks – Practical File / Portfolio

• Total: 20 Marks
